Our clients’ Arts District urban loft was enviably cool in its location, scale, and views of Downtown Los Angeles, but it was undeniably gloomy and cavernous and as two creatives who work from home (sharing space with their two dogs), the open-concept floor plan had become especially challenging to thrive within. Though it seemed impossible to achieve privacy and autonomy without sacrificing the sunlight pouring through the single floor-to-ceiling window, we utilized custom-made frosted glass and oak pocket doors to create a quiet bedroom sanctuary while also inviting more natural light into the expanse of the loft. A completely new kitchen in a lively palette, new bathroom features, custom built-ins for appliances, and the addition of vintage furniture, new lighting, and colorful textiles, and it’s now an entirely rejuvenated mode of loft life.
