Moody, rich colors and a love + reverence for art gets us every time. The São Paulo, Brazil home designed by Julio Katinsky in 1966 embodies such love and reverence. ✨

This week was all hands on deck for #projectsunsetbark and we are basically in love with this house, these clients, their dogs, their art collection, and the architects. Swipe for a “before” photo to see the reading/relaxing/dog snoring space as it was on Thursday morning. ✨ (thanks forever to @rustyoldcamera for your unbelievable art-hanging skills and aesthetic. A gorgeous bathroom can make every day begin (and end) with beauty. This stunner by @sarahshermansamuel with @fireclaytile has been making the design rounds pretty heavily lately. And for good reason! We spent some time with our clients #projectpalmspringsinshermanoaks yesterday going over fixtures, tubs, toilets, and discussing the final master bathroom layout. Getting that balance of modern but warm, mid-century proper to honor the home’s architecture and history without feeling contrived or hokey, and blending tiles, textures, and complementary tones to spaces we want our clients to love for years to come. We’ve got bathrooms on the brain 🧠 lately. And @ginny_macdonald never fails to knock it out of the park, so she’s basically infallible inspiration. Case in point - the bathroom you’ll find in heaven. Or, the loft of a 1929 English Tudor. ✨

Holy smokes and a side of guac, have we been immersed in bathrooms this week! Our clients in Sherman Oaks are about a month away from demo, so we’re gathering a heckton of bathroom inspiration images to get the proverbial, er, loo ball rolling. In the process, found this absolute delight on @archdigest - a Southern California couple’s love of midcentury design reinventing itself in Austin. And dang if this floor-to-ceiling tile bathroom isn’t completely unforgettable. Whenever we’re up on La Cienega, we love to pop into @hollywoodathome! Their textiles, colors, and pattern-diving are positively inspiring. And anyone who knows Rebecca knows she is one seriously unstoppable pillow addict, so shopping there is like Disneyland to a young kid, we imagine. Like, crazy good fun. Is this, like, the very definition of “adulting”? Exquisite lumbar pillows versus the Flume? If so, we’re cool with it!

The current “Swiss-chalet-in-California” home of actress Anne Hathaway was once owned by Yves Saint Laurent and then Wes Anderson, so the home has a curious and deep history. Looks like @studioshamshiri admirably embraced color and quirk when doing a redesign, using one of their own coffee table designs, a vintage Turkish rug from the ‘40s, a vintage armchair, and a Tom Greene light fixture. Loving the relationship of the original honey-hued wood walls with these yellow, gold, turquoise, and pale green elements. We’re gonna say it ‘til we’re turquoise in the face, by the way — don’t be afraid of color. ❤️
