When the light hits just right. 🙌🏽🌟Did you know that we (@debvigna and @toomanyterriers) are both married to abstract artists? And that Debra has an Art degree and worked in painting conservation for years before launching Lily Spindle with Rebecca four years ago? Because art is SUCH an integral part of our own personal aesthetics and lives and it organically carries over to our design work, we’re putting together a piece about how and where to buy art, who should hang it and where, and when quirky vintage art, in particular, does and does not look fabulous. For now, here’s a painting by Rebecca’s husband @nedevans, hanging in the corner of their Venice living room. 💫

We love how much color and quirk rules @hautevictoire’s workspace in @dominomag! And a velvet sofa will get us every dang time. Happy almost weekend, everyone. (And while we don’t like to get uh “political” on here, we just want to say this: we’ve got women’s backs. Women are powerful humans and our voices are loud and strong. 🙌🏽 )

Wouldn’t mind being here all day long, especially with these rainy skies above . . . our Culver City project from awhile back. Purple reigned in this space (yes, that’s an intentional pun/allusion to Prince) and though it’s not often a color we use in our work, we love it! Who doesn’t LOVE a good #beforeandafter?!? Forgive the iPhone pics, but we think the general gist is still graspable. Custom drapes, custom sofa (@thejonesesla), custom pillows (Etsy), client’s own amazing antique door coffee table, wool rug (@modernrugs_la) and new paint (@benjaminmoore Simply White), along with a teeny bit of carpentry work, and this living room in #laurelcanyon is completely transformed. We rearranged the room so the gorgeous view through the floor-to-ceiling glass window is like a constantly changing, magnificent painting our client can experience while lounging on the sofa, reading and relaxing, with her devoted pup Laszlo at her feet. HAPPY SUNDAY! 😘

Finally the big tiny bathroom reveal! @toomanyterriers guest bath was a complete shitshow. She described it as “murdery” and the adjective is somewhat apt when you scroll to the last couple pics and shudder at the horror. She transformed the space into a glorious pink powder room courtesy of @farrowandball’s #calaminepink, glossy white subway tiles to the ceiling, a simple grey porcelain tile floor, and touches of antique, vintage, and handmade brass towel bars, rings, and trash bins (which she sleuthed for for months on end). The sink is a 1934 porcelain and her husband @nedevans outfitted a Craigslist @livingspaces dresser she nabbed for the space to create a custom vanity. She describes her new loo as “a bit of an estrogen explosion that’s a departure from the rest of the house, with a posh boutique hotel vibe.” What do y’all think?!?

Moody Monday, anyone? Hope y’all had a fantastic holiday weekend! This @ashleytstark office space (not THAT kind of #officespacemovie) in Brooklyn feels like a beautiful way to start a new week. Let’s do this, crew! 👊🏼

When designing the breakfast nook for #projectletsgotonoho, we chose to buck the traditional bistro table complementing the built-in bench seating because, hey, these hilarious, gorgeous clients aren’t exactly traditional, either. Rather, we opted for a more laidback, lounge-y corner to kick up your feet + chill the heck out. Watching a spouse prepare dinner from this corner and snuggling with a pup named Rick are also fully green lit by us LS ladies. Pulling together some inspo from @sfgirlbybay @archdigest @dwellmagazine @em_henderson and more (scroll through for pics), we’re creating a new kind of nook while maintaining the joyful, bright, and irrefutably happy color scheme infused by California’s countless sunny days.
