Mother Earth is sending a message loud and clear, as Southern California struggles with the blazing Woolsey fires for the last four days. Animals and humans are running for their survival, homes and all that these structures hold in their memories, histories, and lives lived and loved reduced to devastating cinder and ash. The @losangelesfiredepartment is a team of incredibly courageous heroes, saving both human and animal lives and showing no signs of giving up in the face of Santa Ana’s unpredictable winds. We’ve heard they desperately need hydration packs and you can help them by going to @lafdfoundation and donating your heart out. In the wake of this nightmarish weekend following a nightmarish mid-week in Thousand Oaks #thousandoaksshooting, we’ve all seen a bit too much horror for our spirits to bear. thusly, we’re sharing this beautiful little entryway tableau by @leannefordinteriors rather than any images of the billowing smoke or horses galloping for their lives, flames dancing angry and red in the distance. // We (@debvigna and @toomanyterriers) went to @hollywoodimprov last night in support of @standupforpitsfoundation and let ourselves laugh for a couple hours, despite the trauma and tragedy not just locally but globally, really. So much awe and respect for the many animal rescues, shelters, and volunteers who’ve banded together to mitigate the fall-out from these horrifying fires. Great balls of fire, we are virtually OBSESSED with @eyeswoon’s dining room featured in @archdigest because ummmmmm...EVERYTHING. She goes into great detail on her post regarding each piece, how she altered, updated, or acquired it, which is super fascinating. Her dining table and chairs,for instance, were not newly procured vintage pieces, but to switch them up considerably, she ebonized the lot of them and reupholstered the Niels Otto Moller chairs in a lush, cozy 🐑 wool. We love how she hung the Ethan Cook painting off-center from the console, to align it with the 1960s Poul Henningsen pendants. Proof that symmetry certainly doesn’t equate with perfection. 💫🙌🏽

The reality is a number of us Angelenos are in tonight (or OUT at the game itself!) watching the Dodgers vs the Red Sox. As west coasters with east coast origins, our loyalties are torn. 😬 So looking at beautiful spaces like this sexy-as-hell bedroom-in-blues by @trilbeygordoninteriors is providing an excellent distraction from baseball team allegiance. Did anyone else happen to check out this weekend’s @tmagazine and the incredible “Second Act” spaces?!? This 40-by-15-foot pool house on Shelter Island replaced the former resident’s (a local fisherman) eel-drying shack, originally built in 1863. Taking its cues from Japanese tea houses and their simplicity, this island dwelling is utterly spartan perfection, wouldn’t you say?
