Sometimes it takes a spontaneous soiree to galvanize your interior design plans and shift those beautiful changes into high gear.
Creator, writer, and producer of a wildly successful television show and single mother to a ten-year-old daughter, this bibliophile was ready to make some significant changes to much of her home, ridding the living room of its well-trod sectional, for instance, and making her second-story patio off the living room, with its magnificent, expansive views of Los Feliz and Silver Lake, a habitable, pretty space to lounge, dine, and hang. After our initial meetings and proposals, she expressed her preference to move forward gradually and relatively unrushed. Until she set the date for a small fete at her home, that is. With a few weeks to get it done, we went into design overdrive. This soiree she was throwing was a celebration for her fellow writers, actors, and key players in the success of her show, so we wanted to honor the weight of the event.
Knowing time was of the essence and 100% on board to create a space she was psyched about, we proposed (and she decided upon) the largest elements rather quickly: custom sofa upholstered in Knoll’s Cameo Vista, decadent velvet swivel chairs, vintage credenza (picked up at a local LA antique dealer’s shop) and a sumptuous wool and bamboo silk rug. Repainting the patio in Deep Terra Cotta epoxy, we adorned the deck with vintage Moroccan pillows, a colorful frasada, ceramic hurricanes for soft lighting, and a bevy of gorgeous ceramic pots with lemon trees and ferns, lending a Mediterranean vibe.
We met the deadline! With two days to spare! After our installation, we received an awesome email from our erudite and heretofore reserved client, having just returned to her Lily Spindle’d home. THANK YOU!!! THE HOUSE LOOKS EXQUISITE! WHAT A DELIGHT TO COME HOME TO THIS AMAZING ENVIRONMENT! I'm so deeply grateful and appreciative and feel as if you captured ME in your work, which is hard to do.
